Hi Sagar – I’ll reply to you privately as well. If what you are doing isn’t working after 8 months of trying – you gotta change it up. I don’t know what you are doing, but I encourage you to reach out to Kevin Kermes or someone like him that can help you. Think about it….if you had a sore on your foot that was killing you……wouldn’t you seek out a doctor that knew how to help you? We work over 1/2 the hours we are awake…..isn’t it worth investing in yourself to figure out what you can do to help with the job situation? Feel free to call me if you want to talk.

That helps Dan – Thanks. When I look back over all my clients – I’d have to agree that the PM Consultants and Contractors tend to put in that extra effort. That’s not to say that there are not great PM’s that are W2 employee’s. I know many of them as well. If you love your job – you tend to do it well and care about the results more than the 9 to 5-er mentality. So I say if you find one of those consciencious PM’s – then do what ever you can to keep them around. The Business will only benefit from it.

Last 8 years (out of 18 years ) I am working as Project manager and recent responsibility was Sr. manager -Project and technology before laid off. I am seaching job in the same cadre since Sept 2009 but till date nothing is geting constructive , not even interview call is comming . I need help so that I can get rid off this situation.

My take on what NK was saying is: A PM coming into a project as a consultant will be more diligent, more attentive and put in extra hours or efforts than a W2 employee PM.

I am of the view that the persons (at the level of project Managers, Program Managers, Dilivery Managers etc.) who are planning to have their own business / organization in near future, will be more effective as they will put extra efforts to get the result and in the process they will get the opportunity to learn new things or better way of doing the things / business.
